Elevated official travel advice
Exercise a high degree of caution and exclude higher-risk border routes
Australia advises a high degree of caution across Senegal because of civil unrest and crime, and advises reconsidering travel to the eastern Mali border and most of Casamance outside Cap Skirring, Ziguinchor and the main road between them. The United Kingdom highlights extra care near the Mauritania and Mali borders and continuing risks in Casamance. Norway describes Senegal as mostly safe but notes political unrest, poor roads, strong ocean currents, limited health capacity and greater instability near the Sahel and in Casamance. This edition excludes demonstrations, unofficial border crossings, remote Casamance detours, isolated beaches and night driving, and requires registered transport, current local advice and medical-evacuation cover.
