Elevated official travel advice
Exclude Xaisomboun, uncleared UXO terrain, night roads and fast boats
Norway warns about poor road safety, unexploded ordnance, weak medical capacity and the need for care with alcohol. The United Kingdom advises against all but essential travel to Xaisomboun Province and highlights flood disruption, border sensitivities and unexploded ordnance. Australia advises a high degree of caution overall, warns of violence east of Vang Vieng in Xaisomboun, dangerous rural roads, fast boats, adventure-activity standards and methanol poisoning. This edition excludes Xaisomboun, unofficial crossings, military sites, night roads, fast boats and unmarked UXO terrain, and requires sealed drinks, registered transport and medical-evacuation cover.
