Elevated official travel advice
Avoid restricted Mexican-border areas and travel by daylight
The United Kingdom advises against all but essential travel within five kilometres of the Mexican border from the Pacific coast to the Gracias a Dios crossing, and to Santa Ana Huista, San Antonio Huista and La Democracia. Norway and Australia also highlight crime, demonstrations and disrupted roads. Avoid the restricted areas, use registered daytime transport, and check current volcano, weather and local-authority notices before planning.
