Cycle between the coves of Porquerolles

Collect a bicycle near the ferry pier and follow the island tracks between Plage d’Argent, the southern cliffs and Plage Notre-Dame. The experience is designed as a deliberate route rather than a quick stop.

Best timeApril — June and September — OctoberDurationFull dayEnergyModerate

The harbour empties into a sandy village square, then the first pedal strokes enter vineyards and eucalyptus shade. West and east branches reveal different shores: pale sand and sheltered water to the north, harder rock and open Mediterranean exposure along the southern edge. Moving through Porquerolles harbour, then village bike hire, then Plage d’Argent, then lighthouse junction, then Plage Notre-Dame, then harbour return gives the day a clear sequence and leaves enough time to notice how the place works beyond its headline image.

Reserve ferry and bicycle in busy periods, use only routes open to bikes and walk wherever signs require it. Carry all drinking water and food away from the village, pack out every item, never lock bikes to vegetation and obey fire-risk closures that can restrict forest access with little notice. Confirm the live official calendar and access conditions before departure, reserve any capacity-controlled element, and follow instructions from local staff or guides. Carry the equipment and layers appropriate to the stated season.
