Travel the Riviera corniche from Nice to Menton

Climb from Nice onto the Moyenne and Grande Corniche roads, pausing above Villefranche, at Èze and near La Turbie before descending to Menton.

Best timeYear-roundDurationFull dayEnergyEasy

Leave Nice while the light is low and rise above the deep natural harbour of Villefranche-sur-Mer. The road threads between rock and sky toward Èze, where the village occupies a sharp perch above the sea, then gains its widest perspective near La Turbie before dropping through the eastern Riviera to Menton's ochre waterfront.

Use the train for the coastal towns if you prefer not to drive, but a car or small-group tour is needed for the high viewpoints. Check live road conditions, avoid stopping outside signed pull-offs, reserve parking where possible and limit the day to two substantial village stops so the route remains a journey rather than a parking exercise.
