Follow the Alsace Wine Route through vineyard villages

Travel a deliberate section of the 170-kilometre Alsace Wine Route, pairing vineyard walks and grower tastings with Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr, Colmar and Eguisheim.

Best timeApril — OctoberDuration2–3 daysEnergyEasy

Begin north of Colmar and let the Vosges foothills guide the road through vines and fortified villages. Walk into Riquewihr before the tour buses, visit one independent grower to compare grape varieties and soils, then continue through Colmar to Eguisheim, where concentric lanes open directly toward the vineyards.

The full route runs roughly 170 kilometres from Marlenheim toward Thann, so select one northern and one southern cluster instead of collecting every village. Reserve small producers, use a non-drinking driver or bike-and-train plan, spit during comparative tastings and avoid harvest work areas unless a winery explicitly welcomes visitors.
