Culture & heritage · Atelier de Cézanne — Terrain des Peintres — Bibémus quarries — Sainte-Victoire viewpoints
Follow Cézanne from Aix to Mont Sainte-Victoire
Walk from Cézanne's last studio to his elevated Aix viewpoint, then enter the ochre geometry of Bibémus and face Mont Sainte-Victoire in the open landscape.
Begin in the studio where ordinary objects, high windows and carefully arranged space reveal the painter's working discipline. Climb to Terrain des Peintres and compare the mountain's profile with reproductions set at the viewpoint. A reserved visit to Bibémus then places you inside the fractured ochre quarry forms that helped Cézanne rebuild nature through colour and geometry.
Reserve the studio and Bibémus visit separately, because quarry access is controlled and normally guided. Confirm transport between the city, Terrain des Peintres and rural sites before starting. Wear walking shoes, carry water and avoid exposed mountain ground during heat, mistral or fire restrictions; the objective is close landscape observation, not an improvised summit attempt.
