Hike the high trail above Tiger Leaping Gorge

Traverse the high path above the Jinsha River as villages, dry slopes and the snow peaks of Haba and Yulong frame the gorge. The experience is structured as a deliberate route rather than a hurried photo stop.

Best timeApril — May and October — NovemberDuration2–3 daysEnergyChallenging

Traverse the high path above the Jinsha River as villages, dry slopes and the snow peaks of Haba and Yulong frame the gorge. Moving through Qiaotou trailhead, then upper path guesthouse, then Twenty-Eight Bends, then middle gorge exit gives the visit a clear sequence and keeps the landscape, people or history connected to the activity itself.

Confirm the entire trail and road are open, carry water and avoid the monsoon and landslide periods. Use registered guesthouses and never enter the gorge floor during high water. Confirm the live official calendar, access, permit, weather and local safety guidance before departure, reserve any capacity-controlled element and follow instructions from guides, rangers or site staff.
